Finding Nemo Keeps On Selling
Finding Nemo is the hugely popular computer animated movie from Disney/Pixar Studios. The movie is about a clownfish with the name Nemo and his Dad Marlin, who tries too hard to shelter Nemo but throughout the plot’s course of events finds out that Nemo can take care of himself . This journey begins as Nemo disobeys his father and ventures out into open water to prove that he is capable and a big boy. But Nemo does meet with a lot of risks that his father then tries to rescue him from.
The movie was an unprecedented success and came to be cherished by families and children all over the Earth. It was the highest-grossing G-rated film of all time, bringing in $864 million globally. It is also the biggest-selling DVD of all time, surpassing forty million copies sold. Even now, the Finding Nemo DVD continues to sell quite a large number of copies every week. The film was such a success that in the year of its release tourism to Australia increased significantly, as tourists keen to see clownfish in their native habitat ballooned in numbers.
Today the film lives on as an award-winning musical theater performance at Disney World in Florida. It’s a 40 minute musical with a simplified plot with the theme “The World is Dangerous and Beautiful”. It is a combination of puppets, dancers, acrobats, and animated stage backdrops. The musical is run 5 times daily.
In the year 2008 “Finding Nemo” was selected as the 10th best animated picture of all time in a survey done by the American Film Institute. It is also one of only three movies made after the year 2000 to make the top ten list in any genre.
Finding Nemo continues to be wildly popular, its DVD continues to sell, as does its merchandise. Since it is such a fun and exciting movie with a message for both parents and kids alike, it’s easy to understand why Nemo maintains its popularity after all these years.
